Baby Toys

Aside from soft toys, there are other child-friendly, age-appropriate
and enjoyable toys for children. But the only common requirement is
safety. The National Toy Council (NTC), set up by the British Toy and
Hobby Association is just one of the several organisations in the UK
working to ensure that toy safety standards are maintained. According
to the NTC, there are 3 important things to look out for in buying toys.
• Lion Mark Symbol
• Small Parts
• Age Advice
The Lion Mark
To ensure safe and quality toys, look for the Lion Mark, a symbol developed
by the British Toy & Hobby Association (BTHA), and used only by
members thereof. Toys bearing such mark are guaranteed to have been
manufactured using the highest quality standards in Britain and in the
European Community.
Small Parts
It need not be said that small children have the highest risk of choking
on small objects. This is mostly true with kids under 3 years old who
at this stage, make exploration with their mouths. Safety notices such
as “not suitable for children under 3 years of age” must
be taken lightly.
Age advice
Age guides are a big help in choosing the toys that are appropriate
for our child. But it must be coupled with discernment that gives consideration
to your child’s interest. You must take not also of your child’s
interests.
