Milk bottles and accessories
Parents should have at least six pairs of bottles and teats when the new baby comes into the family. Milk bottles come in two basic sizes. The larger bottle can contain 225ml/8oz of milk. The smaller bottle can hold 120ml/4oz of milk and are normally used for small babies and newborns. Milk bottles are reasonably priced. Average cost of a basic bottle is £ 1.50.
There are also special milk bottles designed to prevent colic. These bottles reduce the air that the baby swallows during bottle feeding. Anti-colic bottles have air vent from which air will escape. These bottles are more expensive than basic bottles, less available, and they are harder to clean.
Steriliser bottles are also available in the market. They are easy to sterilise but usually cost higher than basic bottles. Disposable steriliser bottles can also be purchased which are great when going on a holiday. They come with teats and lids, and are meant to be thrown away after every use. They are perfect for babies over three months and are very handy. Mother can get a pack which contains four steriliser disposable bottles for approximately £2.
Glass bottles are crafted from glass that resists heat. They are safe to the environment and the baby is also safe from the chemicals that come with plastic bottles. It is not advisable though because babies might accidentally ingest glass fragments. They are also hard to find, and cost double the amount of basic bottles.
