Phythalates – Phythalates are a group of chemicals used to soften and increase the flexibility of plastic and vinyl. They are used in hundreds of consumer products like flexible plastic and vinyl toys, shower curtains, wallpaper, vinyl miniblinds, food packaging, and plastic wrap, wood finishes, detergents, adhesives, plastic plumbing pipes, lubricants, medical tubing and fluid bags, solvents, insecticides, medical devices, building materials, and vinyl flooring. Phythalates had also been used to make pacifiers, soft rattles, and teethers.

Vinyl - The polymer polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is frequently referred to as vinyl, and is made by polymerization of the monomer vinyl chloride. It is one of the most thoroughly tested, well-researched plastic materials on the market today.
